How often do you think about doing something...but stop yourself because of that little, nagging voice that whispers "You can't do that..."?
That nagging, little voice that undermines your self-confidence and stops you from doing things that you really want to do is what I call "The voice in your head". That "voice in your head" comes from all the negative things that people who led and influenced you - and didn't believe in you - said to you at some point, and that you've now internalized.
Things like "you're not smart enough to do that", "you're not good enough to succeed at that", "you're too lazy to to do all the things that would entail" and "you'll never amount to anything" may be things that you heard from parents, teachers, coaches or bosses in the past. And you may have heard them so long ago that you might not even remember who said them to you.
Problem is, now those scripts have become unconscious, and whenever you want to do something, they start to play, and they hold you back.
Because your ears are much closer to your brain, it's easier to hear - and listen to - "the voice in your head" than it is to hear - and listen to - the voice that is telling you that it is okay to do what you want to do. The voice that I call "the voice of your heart".
So here's what you need to do.
Every time you hear that nagging, little "voice in your head", I want you to spend a few minutes figuring out where what it's saying came from. Who told you you weren't good enough, smart enough, ambitious enough, skilled enough...and when you do, I want you to say, out loud, "That isn't right. You're just a voice in my head of someone long ago who didn't understand, support and believe in me. And I don't need to hear your "voice in my head" anymore.
Then I want you to get started.
To take the first step - no matter how small - to follow your heart. To accomplish whatever it is that you want to do.
Because you can.
I know it.
I believe in you.
And I can't wait to hear all about your success!
